Yorkton RCMP continue to investigate a serious crash which claimed the lives of three people late Sunday morning.

The head-on collision between a sedan and a mini-van happened about 25 kilometres southeast of Yorkton, near the community of Saltcoats.  RCMP say visibility was reduced on the snow covered Yellowhead Highway, when the sedan tried to pass another vehicle before hitting the oncoming mini-van.

A family from Winnipeg was in the mini-van.   Both parents, who were 38 years old, died in the crash.  Four sons were also in the vehicle.   A 13 year old and a 15 year old were airlifted to Regina with critical injuries.  A 16 year old and a 9 year old were treated in Yorkton hospital.

A 17 year old girl, who was driving the sedan, died at the scene.
