West Nile Virus has been confirmed in mosquitoes from a single trap located within Saskatoon city limits. Samples are sent by the City to the Ministry of Health every week for testing. The positive test result is from a sample sent earlier this month, but no further positive results have been recorded within the city since. It has been five years since a mosquito last tested positive for West Nile Virus in Saskatoon. There have been a total of four positive mosquito pools across the Province this year. Entomologist with the Ministry of Health, Phil Curry, says so far, a Regina man has had the only confirmed case, but the province is investigating several more. There have been over 11 hundred human cases in the United States this year, including 41 deaths. Share: ![]() Tweet
