Another step will be taken tonight (Tues) regarding the future buyer of the Third Avenue United Church in Saskatoon.

The church's congregation is meeting to discuss the draft of a request for proposals.

Demolition is out of the question for the 99 year old building, as buyers will have to agree to repair it and have a viable option for the continuation of the existing congregation.

Secretary of the Church's Board John Parry says they expect to close the request for proposals by mid-September, and find a buyer before the end of the year.

The historic church is on the market due to a lack of funding earlier this year and the failure to get heritage status.

The church is in need of many repairs including new roofing and upgraded sound and lighting equipment.
