Another step will be taken tonight (Tues) regarding the future buyer of the Third Avenue United Church in Saskatoon. The church's congregation is meeting to discuss the draft of a request for proposals. Demolition is out of the question for the 99 year old building, as buyers will have to agree to repair it and have a viable option for the continuation of the existing congregation. Secretary of the Church's Board John Parry says they expect to close the request for proposals by mid-September, and find a buyer before the end of the year. The historic church is on the market due to a lack of funding earlier this year and the failure to get heritage status. The church is in need of many repairs including new roofing and upgraded sound and lighting equipment. (jl july 24/12) Share: ![]() Tweet
