Construction on the new St. Mary School is already underway but provincial, civic and school board officials, along with students and staff gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction today.

The first students should be walking through the doors of the new school on Avenue O South in 14 to 16 months.

Diane Boyko, Chair of the Saskatoon Catholic Board of Education says the new school will be bigger and will feature a number of modern, community, elements including a walking track, community spaces, like the pediatric clinic and room for community associations.

2 hundred and 20 students currently attend St. Mary School and Boyko figures with a revitalization of the neighborhood that number will increase.
