There is a special meeting today (Thurs) at the University of Saskatchewan that is a unique situation.

A General Academic Assembly has been called to reconsider a motion that was voted on in the spring, dealing with the establishment of three new divisions in the College of Medicine: the Division of Clinical Research, the Division of Medical Education, and the Division of Biomedical and Population Sciences, and then that would also mean the discontinuation of the existing models of clinical instruction and research.

The U of S President's office has received over 50 requests by members of the General Academic Assembly that this special meeting be called for the purpose of requiring Council to reconsider its decision.

The College of Medicine is working to have a "warning of probation" released by the Accreditation body for Canadian medical schools.

The meeting is at noon at Convocation Hall.
