An agreement between Saskatoon Transit, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology, and First Nations University will mean transit savings for students.

University of Saskatchewan students have had the UPass since 2007, and now it is being extended to SIIT and FNU.

It provides students unlimited city-wide bus access with a mandatory fee of just over 96 dollars a semester.

Randell Morris, SIIT President says about 75 to 80 per cent of the students use the bus system, so this will help them financially.

The savings can be used to alleviate other expenses a student may have, which Morris says will help remove barriers to First Nations and Metis education.
