The RCMP say the highways in and around the Maidstone area are in extremely poor winter driving conditions. The snowstorm that hit the area has wreaked havoc, covering roads with snow and ice, and making travel dangerous. Police say motorists should expect delays on Highway 16 East, near the bridge at Maidstone but all traffic both westbound and eastbound on Highway 16 is now moving freely, but slowly. Highway 21 north of Maidstone is experiencing extremely poor winter driving conditions because the surface of the road is completely covered in snow, with a build up of ice underneath. At present the Maidstone RCMP are experiencing a very large number of motor vehicle collisions, jack knifed semi units, as well as a number of vehicles sliding off of the road and hitting the ditch. Police say the Ministry of Highways has been contacted and are assisting. Share: ![]() Tweet
