Just under 340 million dollars was invested in Saskatchewan Research and Development in 2010/2011. Statistics Canada says, that was a 9.7 per cent increase from the year before. Only British Columbia saw a higher increase of 12.6 per cent. The R&D spending was associated with universities and affiliated research hospitals, experimental research stations, and clinics. But our actual dollars spent was on the low-side of the ledger, beating out only Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The big bucks were spent in Ontario, and Quebec where 4.6 and 2.8 billion dollars were spent respectively, and in BC and Alberta where 1.3 and 1.2 billion dollars respectively went into R&D.
