A public information meeting in LeRoy tonight (Wed) is expected to let residents know of the sale of the Leisureland Regional Park. Reports show that the board of directors have put it up for sale, and that some Vancouver investors are lined up for the purchase. Park Manager, Maggie Hamilton, says this comes as news to her. She expected to vote on the future of the park, if putting it up for sale was what the residents wanted to happen. She says she feels a bit betrayed, and that the park receives enough donations each year and money from the province to keep things running. Nothing has been made official yet, but the sale is expected to be of all park grounds, as well as some land surrounding it, including some near BHP's possible Jansen Potash mine site. (jl aug 22/12)
