potash

Canpotex plans to make its first potash shipment to Burma following the removal of economic sanctions by the federal government.

The export of Canpotex potash fertilizer to developing countries over the past forty years has resulted in an increase in economic prosperity in those countries as their farmers develop better fertilization methods and grow more and better crops.

Canpotex is the exclusive offshore marketing company owned by the three Saskatchewan potash producing companies.

PotashCorp is moving from the fields of farmers around the world into the living rooms of Canadians.

The company has launched a new national advertising campaign designed to raise awareness of the role Canadian potash plays in feeding the world.

The decision was made at the annual meeting of shareholders in Saskatoon.

PotashCorp President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Doyle says potash helps people achieve their potential, it's an essential crop nutrient that improves the quality and quantity of crops and the campaign aims to educate people about that.

Canada has almost half of the world s potash reserves and PotashCorp, with 20 percent of global capacity, is the largest producer.

PotashCorp will be building more new capacity over the next five years.
