The Executive Director of the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce says a summit being held in Saskatoon this week will have an economic spinoff in the millions, but the long term effects from collaboration will be much more important.

Kent Smith Windsor says the Pacific Northwest Economic Region's summit looks at major policy issues facing the area in the United States and Canada.

500 delegates from universities, politics, and business will meet in roundtable discussions this week.

University presidents from Canada and the U.S meet this morning (Mon) in a roundtable on cross-border collaboration. Federal Minister of Public Safety, Vic Toews, will also be the keynote speaker this morning.

Smith Windsor says this summit is unique in the way that business leaders, legislators and universities from either side of the border all come together to talk about the challenges facing the region.
