Homeless youth in Tanzania will be receiving shelter from Sasktel and Saskatoon Public Schools. A 40 foot shipping container has been transformed into a fully operational shelter that will be used to house at least 8 homeless people in Tanzania. The project first started in 2010 and students from Mount Royal Collegiate took part in the building process. The shelter is complete with termite-proof aluminum siding, tile flooring, electricity powered by a generator, and bunk beds in male and female sleeping quarters. MD Ambulance joined the initiative and is sending an ambulance as well, to be used as a mobile health bus. The shelter will be sent over full of boxes of supplies. (jl sept 26/12) Share: ![]() Tweet
