RCMP are still trying to determine whether they will lay charges in the Melfort explosion that occurred June 13th.

But they now say the boys, two aged 14 and one 16 year old, were working on a pipe bomb. Police believe there was no criminal intent involved - that the device was not going to be used for any criminal activity.  They also say it appears curiosity was the motivation for the pipe bomb.

Two boys were sent to hospital due to injuries in the explosion.  One 14 year old was treated and released from Melfort hospital while the other was  sent to RUH in Saskatoon.  (vmf Jun 25/10)
