A recent survey says more than one-third of Canadian farms and
agri-businesses are interested in renewable energy.
Farm Credit Canada is introducing a new Energy Loan for the purchase and
installation of biogas, geo-thermal, wind or solar power units.
The interest rate will be one percent below the individual farmer's normal
FCC loan rate.
Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says the loans will help tap into
sources of energy all around Canadian farmyards. He made the loan program announcement at the Canadian Federation of Agriculture annual meeting in Ottawa.
The new loan program will be available on March 1.
