The Mendel Art Gallery will be moving to river landing.

The River Landing Destination Centre was approved in principle at City Council, and will be passed over to the Budget Committee for consideration.

The Centre will feature an art gallery as its anchor attraction, along with a restaurant, atrium, gift shop, and studio.

The Persephone Theatre will also get an expansion as a part of the project.

Dr. Art Knight, chair of the Mendel Board of Trustees, says they have to move out of their current building, and when federal and provincial funding was announced for the Destination Centre, they seized the opportunity.

Another 8 million dollars will have to be raised to get the project finished, but Knight is confident there will be support. (KRNov 30/09)
