An art gallery, studio, atrium, and restaurant would be included in the destination centre, which city council will discuss tonight(mon).

The 58 million dollar project destined for river landing is meant to showcase and encourage creativity and the arts. The Persephone Theatre would also recieve some expanded seating.

A steering committee had to sort through a number of ideas, such as a sky tower, children's museum, or an IMAX theatre.

The the city has secured funding from the provincial and federal governments, but will still need to come up with 8 million dollars if they decide to build it.

City council will also look at a proposed water rate increase at tonight's meeting(mon).

If approved the average homeowner would see their bill go up about 2 dollars and 49 cents.

The goal is to encourage water conservation, by changing the billing method so that rates would go up along with consumption.

The city also says they hope to cover operating and capital costs, address inequities in the condo sector, and minimize the cost of water.

Of the three things listed I sure hope we get the IMAX theater.
