Noisy Vehicles a Problem Everywhere PDF Print E-mail

Complaints have been registered in Regina about extra loud cars, trucks and motorcycles, especially on busy stretches of road.

So, Mayor Pat Fiacco has asked police to draft a strategy on ways to curb the sale and use of noisy mufflers and other after-market sound boosters on vehicles.

Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison says City Council has looked at the issue here as well, but the challenge is how to legislate any by-law dealing with this.

He says another challenge is to define what decibel level is too loud, and how would it be measured?

Atchison says that if a solution can be found, City Council would look at the issue again.

I agree. I live on Preston Avenue and I cannot open my bedroom windows overnight because I will be rudely awoken early in the morning by loud vehicles passing by. It never fails.

My problem is the newer headlights
that are 20% more brighter than the normal headlights, sure, they are ok for the driver that wants to see farther or to make their vehicle look cool but the reality is there is nothing cool about this for the oncoming driver at night being blinded by these things. These lights are danerous & should be banned everywhere.
There are far more worse things on the road than niosy stereos & mufflers.

Forget about the noisy mufflers! Deal with the jerks that have the loud stereos. I have heard stereos so loud that I could not hear the phone at work. What is the point of this?
