The Saskatoon Health Region received a 7.0 Curie generator of medical isotopes this week.  The normal shipment is a 17.5 Curie generator.

Right now, the Health Region knows that 17 bone scans have been postponed but more may be required depending on when the Radioisotope shipment arrives today (weds) because the shipment is 2 days later than normal.

Anyone who has a scheduled nuclear medical imaging appointment should plan to be there unless they hear otherwise.  Medical imaging staff will contact those patients who have had their examinations postponed.

To date there have been 369 postponements because of the isotope shortage.  226 of those have now been made up. (vmf Nov 4/09)
