It is a final journey everyone eventually takes. An entrepeneur from North
Battleford wants to make the ride as memorable as possible.
Byron Haryung is the owner of The Last Ride--Hooves to Heaven. A horse drawn
hearse is used instead of a motor vehicle for the funeral procession.
Haryung grew up with horses on the family farm near Rabbit Lake. He knows
what a big part they played in many people's lives, especially the pioneers.
"It's not just farmers, it's the ranchers, the native community, rodeo community
and auctioneers," says Haryung.
The 13 foot . . . 1100 pound hearse is pulled by two quarter horses. The
horses have been trained so they are familiar with larger crowds.
Haryung has contacted funeral homes in Saskatchewan and Alberta . . . letting
them know about his services.
