The Coke strike is going into week four in Saskatoon. 58 employees of the Coca-Cola bottling Company in Saskatoon, members of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, Local 558, walked off the job on Tuesday, June 9th. Rocky Luchsinger (LUCK-singer), RWDSU Saskatchewan representative, says Coca-Cola's last offer included the removal of Article 21, which forbids the company to contract out work. Luchsinger says the members are not interested in signing away their own jobs. There are no talks scheduled at this point. The workers have been without a contract since January 1st. The strike doesn't apply to Coca-Cola in Regina, where employees are members of the United Food and Commercial Workers union. (ct/june22/09)

![]() written by Thoughts for coffee talk , June 22, 2009 For one thing I don't know why any one needs a contract to work? If you are willing to work, than you should be happy to have a job in the first place. If a company wants to contract out work that should be their own business, not any concern of an employee. If you are worried about loosing your job to someone else, maybe you should pull up your socks and produce alittle more to show that you have a little pride in your job. If a company wants to look at other avenues to cut cost and be more efficent, that should be their own concern. Alot of people are very successful and have worked for many years without unions and contracts. These are hard working common people and I am quite should many unionized people know them too.
