The Canadian Football League is off until Thursday when Week 8 of the season continues with the Saskatchewan Roughriders visiting the Edmonton Eskimos. CJWW's broadcast, a part of the "The Roughrider Radio Network", starts at 6 p.m. with the "Roughrider Warm-Up", followed at 6:30 by "Countdown to Kick-off". The play-by-play starts at 7 p.m. with post-game coverage including the "Rider Round-Up" call-in show. The Riders have 6 wins, 1 loss for 12 points...good for 1st place in the West Division. Edmonton has 4 wins, 3 losses for 8 points...tied for 2nd place in the West. The Riders' next home game is Sunday, August 31st when they host Winnipeg. Game time at Mosaic Stadium in Regina is 1 p.m. Tune in to CJWW following the 5 p.m. sports every weekday throughout the C-F-L season for a special "Rider Report" with Rod Pedersen, the "Voice of the Riders", on the Roughrider Radio Network.

The Prairie Football Conference is idle until Sunday when Week 3 of the regular season starts and concludes with 3 games, including the Saskatoon Hilltops at home against the Edmonton Wildcats. Game time is 1 p.m. at Gordie Howe Bowl. The Toppers have 2 wins, 0 losses for 4 points...tied for 1st place. The Wildcats have 1 win, 1 loss for 2 points...tied for 3rd place. CJWW's broadcast starts at 12:30 p.m. with "The Hilltops Huddle" pre-game show and the play-by-play at 1 p.m.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies' football team continues training camp today with workouts at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium. The Dogs host the Concordia Stingers in an exhibition game on Saturday and then open the Canada West Conference regular season on Friday, August 29th against the Calgary Dinos. Both games are under the lights at Griffiths Stadium, starting at 7 p.m.

San Jose Sharks head coach Todd McLellan has his day with the Stanley Cup in Saskatoon. The former Blades' captain was assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings this past season as they won the N-H-L championship. The public can visit with McLellan and have their picture taken with the Cup at two different times today. Between 9:30 and 11:30 at the front doors of City Hall...proceeds go to KidSport and Saskatoon Minor Hockey...and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Boston Pizza restaurant on 51st Street. Proceeds go to the Saskatoon Community Foundation. In between, from 11:30 to 1:30, there's a fund-raising luncheon on behalf of the Saskatoon Community Foundation at the Sheraton-Cavalier Hotel.

The annual Women's Lobstick golf tournament starts today and runs through Friday at Waskesiu. Today is a medal play, qualifying round in both the Amateur and Senior divisions.
