Diamond Industry Impact Study Needs More Work PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 09 April 2008
The Prince Albert Regional Economic Development Authority says a Diamond Industry Opportunity Impact Study is their crystal ball into the future.

Executive Director Joan Corneil says the draft study has been prepared but the consultant has been asked to seek out more information before the study is finalized. She says they need to know what businesses are out in the rural municipalities and smaller communities because it may be services not available in Prince Albert but it may be an essential piece of the puzzle for the companies involved in the northern resource sector.

The P-A REDA wants to make sure that the Prince Albert region has everything industry would need, to some degree and this is likely just one of the first studies they'll undertake but more could be in the works dealing with things like rare earth elements, gold, and uranium.

Corneil says they are examining very quickly, very closely, their available work force, but indicates they are fortunate to have a large and growing work force through the Aboriginal community.  (vmf 03/09/08)
