A 3 year, 3 million dollar study into how nurses and other health care providers can reduce the time they spend on administrative tasks or retrieving medical supplies , so they can spend more time with their patients is underway in Saskatchewan.
The study will continue until March of 2013 and will include several hospitals in Ontario. The research team includes the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Alberta, Toronto and Kings College in London England.
Dr. Gary Teare, Director of Quality Measurement and Analysis for the Health Quality Council says the 3 million dollars is partly in cash and in-kind support from the Change Foundation in Ontario. He says the study will be implemented in 33 units at 20 hospitals in Saskatchewan.
