| WHL Has Strong Showing At NHL Entry Draft |

It was a big weekend for the Western Hockey League as 33 players from the league were chosen in the 2011 NHL entry draft. Highlighting the group was Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who was chosen first overall by the Edmonton Oilers. The Saskatoon Blades also had a big showing as four players were taken by NHL clubs. Defenseman Duncan Siemens was selected 11th overall by the Colorado Avalanche. Darren Dietz was taken by Montreal, Darian Dziurzynski was selected by Phoenix and Matej Stransky was chosen by the Dallas Stars. (cn june26/11)
