Growing a beard for the playoffs was more than a good luck charm for Saskatoon Media Group's Gregger. Gregger, co-host on the Magic 98.3 morning show, grew a play-off beard in honour of his Los Angeles Kings AND to raise both awareness and money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We were on site today as Gregger had his bushy beard shaved off by one of the few barbers in the city who can still do a hot towel with a straight-razor shave. Gregger raised $550 - more than five times his goal, in the N-H-L-P-A Beard-a-Thon. Gaylene Poulin with the Heart and Stroke Foundation says it was the second consecutive year that the National Hockey League Players' Association teamed up with Heart and Stroke during Stanley Cup playoffs. In terms of pledges raised, Gregger was number 4 in Saskatchewan and in the top 50 in Canada. Total raised to date for the 2012 Beard-a-Thon is over 115 thousand dollars. Share: ![]() Tweet
