first nation vets meet federal reps

Federal government representatives met with the Saskatchewan First Nations Veterans Association and the First Nations Veterans Association of Canada in Saskatoon today (Wed).

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and the MP for Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River spoke with First Nations Veterans about the services and benefits available to them through Veterans Affairs Canada.

In particular, they noted recently implemented enhancements to the New Veterans Charter to better care for and support seriously ill and injured Veterans.

Those include a disability award where Veterans can choose their method of payment, earnings loss benefits and a Permanent Impairment allowance.

The federal government has also included job placement services under the New Charter.
