Federal approval is still needed before the opening of one of the largest Infectious Disease Vaccine centres in North America opens in Saskatoon.

A tour of the building on the U of S campus was given today (Fri) as the facility is complete.

The International Vaccine Centre will allow for research on diseases such as SARS, H-I-V, and Tuberculosis among many others.

Funding for the 1 hundred and 40 million dollar facility came from the federal and provincial governments, the U of S, and the city of Saskatoon.

Small testing is being done at Intervac now, but research of vaccines won't get underway until federal approval is given, expected by the fall.
