The Emergency Response Team was called out last night but police stress it was to make sure the situation didn't escalate, not because there was an incident in progress.

Police were trying to track down a "person of interest" wanted in connection to a string of crimes that happened around the city this past Sunday and Monday. That includes a number of robberies involving a handgun: a pizza delivery person was robbed, a home was broken into where the resident was robbed of cash and video games and finally a cabbie was robbed at gunpoint - and the gun went off - the 36 year old cab driver suffered minor injuries.

Residents were evacuated from suites around an apartment located in a building in the 100 block of Avenue U South. And the area was blocked off for about 3 hours while officers waited for a search warrant. No word on arrests but police say the file remains open and they continue to look for suspects wanted in connection to a series of crimes committed Sunday and Monday in Saskatoon.
