Weekend rain put an end to several days of very warm weather. In most cases, it appears crops handled the heat well. Garth MacDonald says the humidity and cooler night temperatures were a big help. He credits good nutrition packages with helping the crops deal with stress. "It is like humans having a good diet. You are less suseptible to disease." MacDonald says very good grain and oilseed prices are encouraging farmers to be more pro-active in applying fungicides to prevent disease. Agronomists will be busy monitoring fields for wheat midge and diamondbacks in the coming days. Share: ![]() Tweet
