The number of crop hail claims in Saskatchewan are about average for this time of year. Nearly 1000 claims have been filed---most of them during the last week of June and over the Canada Day long weekend. A strong storm system on June 25 resulted in hail damage over a number of areas, including Rosetown, Elrose, Vanscoy and Cudworth. There were also a number of claims on July 3 from various areas of the province. Hail insurance companies are reporting a decrease in the number of insured acres---mainly due to flooded land in southeast Saskatchewn.
Various loss adjustment strategies are being employed due to delayed crop
development. In some cases, the adjustment is being postponed to avoid having to
make two trips to determine losses. In other cases, adjusters will visit fields
right away and make plans to return later to more accurately determine how much
the young plants are able to recover. Share: ![]() Tweet
