Forget waiting for a bus in a minus 35 windchill. Within the next year, you may very well be able to track -- to the second -- where your bus is on your mobile device. Kevin Peacock, branch manager of corporate information services with the City, says they are just finalizing a new framework for making city information available to app developers. Already some of that information has been provided, and apps already exist for tracking some city information like garbage pickup days and transit routes. But according to Peacock, this new framework will allow for a lot more in the future. As for tracking your bus on your mobile phone, he says they should have G-P-S systems installed on busses and linked up for use by app developers by the end of 2013. (pb oct 8/12) Share: ![]() Tweet
