Saskatoon Police are advising the public about a 42 year old man who was arrested in Ontario yesterday (Thurs). It is believed the accused, Kris Allan Gowdy had lived and worked in Saskatoon recently. He was arrested by the Durham Regional Police for luring a child via a computer and attempted aggravated sexual assault. He has been diagnosed as being HIV-positive and is believed to have worked at a local church in Saskatoon. If anyone has information of similar incidents in Saskatoon police would like you to call. This after, investigators with the Durham Regional Police and and OPP ICE units arrested the man yesterday (Thurs), who after befriending a male youth victim online, attended a residence for the purpose of having sex. The presumed 15-year-old boy online was actually a police investigator. The accused used the profile name: collegetoy2033 on social media sites. Investigators met the accused at the prearranged location and after being taken into custody, it was determined the accused is a youth pastor with the Free Methodist Church in Courtice, Ontario and has travelled extensively over the last decade. Police say the luring incident is in no way connected to the church. In 2009, the accused admitted to having been diagnosed with HIV and it is believed that he contracted the virus sometime in the 1990’s. Police say the accused had an extensive social media presence and investigators are concerned there may be further victims. The investigation determined the accused was a church youth counselor in several communities including: Sussex, New Brunswick; Rochester, New York, USA; Amherstview, Ontario; and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
