25th Street Extension

City Council has approved the design of the new intersection at 25th Street and Idylwyld Drive.

The proposal was part of the 25th Street extension project.

The main sticking point was the fact that the new design would eliminate a left hand turn onto 25th Street while heading north on Idylwyld, to accommodate changes to the rail line currently running through the intersection.

Through consultation with Canadian Pacific Railway, this was the only viable option for the company.

In order to get onto 25th Street while driving north on Idylwyld, the City will put in place a U-turn lane farther down the road for passenger vehicles.

The total cost of the project will be 100 thousand dollars, and will begin this construction season.

The City will also be doing a traffic review study after one year of the changes.
