The Canadian Mint is making some changes to the the toonie and loonie, and it's causing grief for municipalities across the country. That's because the new coins won't be accepted by many of the existing parking metres. But Saskatoon seems to be ahead of the game. Angela Gardiner, Manager of the Transportation Branch, says they sent out an R-F-P for new parking metres last fall. According to Gardiner, Saskatoon's aging parking metres needed to be replaced anyway, and new metres can be adjusted to accept a change to coins. She says the proposal for the new metres will be before City Council in March, and if approved, will be installed this summer. (pb feb 22/12) Share: ![]() Tweet
