The Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce says it's important the city be ready with infrastructure projects should the Federal government launch any kind of stimulus package.

The Minister of State for Transport, Steven Fletcher met with officials from the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, among others this week as part of the work the feds are doing to try to determine what a new long term plan for public infrastructure should look like.

The Chamber's Executive Director, Kent Smith Windsor says Fletcher warned those at the meeting that, if the situation in Europe doesn't start to get better, there may well have to be a stimulus package similar to what we saw in 2007 and 8 and that means we will need to have projects shovel ready.

Smith Windsor says the Chamber pressed the need for a new north bridge in Saskatoon.

He says officials from recreation were also at the meeting and talked about some sports facilities they would like to see.
