Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices were mixed last week with the heavier weight classes showing positive price movement. Canfax says steers over 700 pounds had modest increases mostly in relation to available supplies of finished cattle for the upcoming summer grilling season. 19,122 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan last week---up from 10,650 head during the previous week. Fed cattle prices in Western Canada moved higher. Alberta fed steers were $116.02 per hundredweight, up $1.31 per cwt. D1,2 cows in Alberta were 17 cents higher to $74.17 per cwt. D3 slaughter cows decreased 66 cents to average $65.14 per cwt.
