Behind the Stripes is brought to you by the Saskatchewan Amateur Football Officials Association.  There is still time to join the ranks --- go to www.bearef.ca to find out how you can get on the field as an official.

Here are some interesting stats as we near the final few games of the regular season.  Penalties continue to be a problem for several teams while others like Saskatchewan and Montreal are the least penalized.  The Als and Riders each drew flags on 127 occasions but it is interesting to note that the Riders tend to attract the least number of unnecessary roughness infractions.  That distinction belongs to the Argonauts who are not only the most penalized team with 173 flags for a total of 15-hundred and 42 yards but they also get the nod for most UR’s.  Second in the penalty parade is Edmonton with 156 and then Hamilton with 151.  It’s also interesting to note that the second most penalized team in the west is BC which is also atop the standings, suggesting that while penalties certainly don’t enhance your game, a good team can find a way to succeed inspite.
