Further details have come to light regarding the city's third homicide of 2012.

Just before 2 o'clock Monday morning, an officer on patrol in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue South heard several gun shots.

Upon investigation, he located a 31 year old man injured in the street.

The officer witnessed suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle, which also hit a pedestrian who was treated and released but the 31 year old man later died in hospital.

Another patrol car which spotted the vehicle fleeing the scene, tried to stop it but the vehicles crashed and the suspect vehicle also careened into a lamp post. At this time, police say a member of the police service discharged their firearm at the suspect vehicle.

Four occupants of the vehicle -- 3 men and a woman -- were taken into custody.

Major Crimes Detectives were questioning them, however, police continue to investigate adn charges have not been laid as yet.
